HISTORY:

Barrel’s Fine Food was opened in 1992 by Tom Franco, and was derived from his father’s establishment, Johnnie Barrels, which opened in the late 50’s on the corner of 18^th & Sigel. In having a true love for the Italian cuisine that his mother created, Tom wanted to keep the focus on the food which is why Barrel’s became, and still is, a BYOB to this day.

Zagat Review: “One entrée lasts you three days” at this hard to find “Plain-Jane South Philly Italian Original”. You can’t beat the price, and there’s “quick delivery too”.

As the neighborhood changes, one thing has remained the same, and that is the quality and consistency of the food Barrel’s serves.
